Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmaa of Morocco arrived in Kenya on Tuesday for a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening cooperation in healthcare and child welfare between the two nations.

Her aircraft landed at 2 pm at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi, where she was received by First Lady Rachel Ruto and senior government officials.

During her stay, Princess Lalla Asmaa is scheduled to visit Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) on Wednesday.

She will assess the progress of Kenya’s Cochlear Implant Programme and is expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration between Kenya and Morocco in hearing health.

As part of her visit, the Princess made a donation of cochlear implant devices valued at Sh120 million.

The devices, handed over to the Ministry of Health under the Voice of Children Programme launched by First Lady Rachel Ruto last week, will benefit dozens of Kenyan children with hearing impairments.

A specialised medical team from Kenyatta National Hospital, led by Acting Chief Executive Officer Dr Richard Lesiyampe, is conducting the implant procedures.

The visit highlights growing bilateral ties in support of inclusive healthcare initiatives, particularly for children with special medical needs.

Later on Tuesday evening, First Lady Rachel Ruto will host a State Dinner at State House, Nairobi, in honour of Princess Lalla Asmaa.

The event will celebrate the partnership between Kenya and Morocco in promoting child health and welfare.

Princess Lalla Asmaa’s visit underscores Morocco’s continued support for humanitarian and health-related initiatives in Africa and is expected to pave the way for deeper cooperation in medical technology, training, and social programmes.

The Kenyan government has welcomed the collaboration, noting that the donation and planned agreements will boost access to life-changing medical interventions for children with hearing loss.

Her visit is seen as a significant step in enhancing diplomatic and people-to-people ties between Kenya and Morocco.
